Our Beginnings

In 1949 a young, adventurous Italian, Carlo Valmorbida left his country’s shores for Australia.

He enjoyed life here, but missed many things from home, and so in 1954 founded a business to import his favourite Italian foods, including canned tomatoes and tuna, and real espresso coffee.

More than 40 years on, his son and daughter John and Luisa retain the same passion for sharing with Australia the finest Italian style food and beverages

Valcorp Today

Today, Valcorp is a dynamic Australian business employing around 100 people, with offices in every capital city and in New Zealand. We are responsible for the sales, marketing and distribution of some of Australia’s most loved premium food and beverage brands.

Our brands have been favourites for many years amongst consumers who look for the best possible quality.

The Valmorbida family has been the sole authorised distributor of Sirena tuna since 1956, and Lavazza coffee since 1976. La Gina canned tomatoes and pasta sauces were established in 1963, and proudly stand for “Il Migliore d’Italia”, which means “The Best of Italy”.

More recently, La Gina has brought innovation to the market with sub brands such as the new “La Zuppa” range of wholesome ready to eat soups, made to classic Italian recipes. And “Risotto Pronto”, a convenient base from which the perfect Risotto can be made every time.
